When it comes to choosing your wedding flowers, so many factors come into play – seasonal availability, colour options, style, vase life, and of course your budget. Three out of these five factors are things you can easily control. Once you’ve set a budget and have picked a theme for the wedding, you can narrow down your flower colour and style choices.

Still can’t pick and so overwhelmed by the multitude of options? Go neutral. It’s soft, romantic, refreshing, timeless, and versatile enough to fit all and any wedding theme. The classic shades of ivory, white, grey, and beige will bring a luxurious look to any wedding, too. Still not convinced? Here are three reasons, and some inspirations, to set your mind at rest and relieve any doubts that a neutral wedding bouquet is the perfect choice.

Will Work for Any Season and Theme

Neutrals are perfect for weddings all year round. This colour palette isn’t season-specific. It’s also not theme-specific. Wherever you wish to get married, at whatever time of the year, you don’t have to worry about having your neutrals fit in.

Beach wedding? Bohemian wedding in a historic villa? Traditional? Intimate rustic chic affair in a manicured garden? Modern? A muted, minimalist, neutral wedding bouquet will bring an elegant and dreamy finish to your big day.

And to keep that neutral floral ensemble from looking boring, all you need to do is pick one main neutral hue and work around it.

For a modern elegant affair, choose grey as the dominant colour and mix it with ivory and white tones plus some champagne or muted gold accents.

For a waterfront or beach wedding, get blooms in tones like sand, beige, shell white, and add hints of light cobalt blue or pale cerulean.

For a bohemian-themed wedding, go earthy with shades of taupe and mauve combined with cream and ivory. Include bits of amber, copper, rust, or a sophisticated sage.

Fancy a rustic wedding theme? Blush, dusty rose, and lavender-coloured blooms will give you a bouquet made of pure romance. Incorporate richness into your bouquet by adding hints of burgundy.

Luxe for Less

Flowers in traditional neutral colours like white are easy to find. A florist won’t have a hard time finding a flower in cotton or chiffon white, in cream or ivory. Blooms in “new neutral” tones are likewise not that difficult to find.  Muted blue, blush, pale pink and dusty pink, lilac, light mauve, pale yellow, sage green, grey-green and silver green – these hues naturally occur in nature.

Year-round availability means better allowance to work with the tightest of budgets. You no longer have to find the largest and prettiest fuchsia or sunny yellow blossom to have a truly bold and eye-catching bouquet. Flowers in neutral shades also come in different sizes, looks, and textures so you can mix and match with ease and create a luxurious bridal bouquet while staying on budget.

Stand Out Bride

Picking a neutral wedding bouquet is the best choice because the muted colour palette won’t drown you, or hide the silhouette of your dress, or overwhelm your look. The calm, quiet, and faint presence of colour in a neutral bridal bouquet allows other (more important) wedding elements to be highlighted. In this case, the bride who holds the bouquet gets to truly stand out given the hushed colour palette of her bouquet.

Your bridal bouquet is technically a once-in-a-lifetime accessory so choose it wisely. While you would want one that will get attention, you wouldn’t want something that would take the attention away from you and your celebration of love. The goal is to choose a wedding bouquet that will complement you as you walk down the aisle.
